As most of you know, I've been busy helping pack up Anna's school for our big move in August. (Talk about stress!) I came across a little (and old) booklet about attitude. Since it seemed discarded, I snagged it and brought it home. I found many little wise gems inside and thought I'd share this one:
Manage Stress Day by Day
1. Let go of unrealistic expectations of yourself and others. Not everything has to be perfect.
2. Simplify your schedule. Say "no" when you can to events and requests that add extra stress.
3. Learn to be flexible. Accept that you can't control every aspect of life.
4. Get plenty of sleep--it recharges both your body and your mind.
5. Make time for relaxation every day. Go for a stroll, take a bubble bath, work on a hobby, or play games with family or friends. Do something that you enjoy.
6. Learn to unwind in healthy ways--through music, reading, meditation, stretching, or exercise.
Wishing you all a "stress-free" week!

By the way, I successfully did #5 today for 3 hours! Anna and I had a gamefest!!!!! It was FABULOUS! I didn't worry about laundry, dishes, the yard, or anything. Just enjoyed having fun with my girl!
Wow - what an awesome list. Thinking about what you and I were talking about with our options as we look to getting pregnant/having a baby - #1 and #3 really hit home.
And man do we all neglect sleep more than we should?!?!?! So important!! So not sure how you do that when you have kids - or twins, right Em?
Thanks so much for sending this, Melissa! What a great reminder!
Yep, all those points can hit home with just about anyone or any situation, I think. Good to remind ourselves from time to time.
OH MAN, this is perfect!!! I am going to print it out and hang it on my frig.
I am realizing more than ever how much I depend on scheduling. It seems like if it doesn't make it on the calendar or "to do" list, then it doesn't happen. So I thought over the weekend......each week I am going to pick a night and write "scrapbook at 8:30 pm". That way it's on there and it happens once the girls are down for the night. Also, I am also going to have one that says "date night at home with Bill" and we'll rent a movie or have a nice dinner after the girls go to bed.
Why stress over the things we can't change when we can just do simple things to make those stressful times a little more managable either by taking time for ourselves or to do things we enjoy with the people we love. Oh so true.
THANKS!
