Update on the teacher situation. He's leaving the school. There were other circumstances as well, but I'm still saddened that he's going. This was going to be Anna's first grade teacher and she loved him! He's so good with the kids and it makes me sad to think that he doesn't believe he did a good enough job. Anna has been going to "first grade" on Friday mornings and I just don't know how I'll tell her that there will be someone new. I just keep reminding myself that I'm happy with our decision to keep her there--I still believe highly in their method of teaching! I know she'll be fine. So, for all you educators--keep up the good work!!! You DO make a difference to lots of kids!

I would make sure you let that teacher know exactly how much you appreciate all of his efforts at the school and with Anna, maybe write him a really nice letter so that he has something to take with him. I would also have Anna write him a note too. Just because other people didn't always agree with him or felt the need to blame him for other things, he needs to know that he is valued and that his attitude and talents do matter to some people and that you hope he has much success in the future. A little note could go a long way in reassuring him that he does matter.
Right on, Em! I know that John keeps little cards and notes and says when he has a bad day, he'll pull one out and read it. It does make a difference! I hope he realizes (eventually) that he helped alot of kids and that the parents who "complained" are just those hard to please type.
Em is so right! I have notes that I leave hanging in my room and hang back up each year. They mean so much - especially when you're having a hard time!
